How we handle your information
This site is run by private individuals in Stellenbosch. We collect as little as we can get away with, we use it to answer you, and then we delete it. What follows is the whole of it, in plain language, framed on the Protection of Personal Information Act.
What the form collects
The enquiry form asks for a name, a telephone number, a return address for correspondence, a subject line and your message. The consent tick is stored with the rest so that we can show on what basis we replied to you. Nothing else is gathered from the form.
We do not ask for an identity number, a residential address, a card number or anything about your health or finances, and we would rather you did not volunteer them in the message field. If you do, we remove them when the request is closed.
Why we have it at all
The single purpose is replying to your request and doing the planning work you asked for. If you ask for a route sheet, your details sit in the working file until the sheet is delivered and any follow-up questions are done.
We do not build a mailing list, we do not send newsletters, and we do not contact you again about something you did not ask about. If you want to hear from us, you telephone us.
How long we keep it
Enquiry details are deleted within twelve months of the request being closed, and usually a good deal sooner than that. Delivered route sheets are kept without your contact details attached, because they are useful to us as working notes on the roads.
You may ask us to delete everything sooner, and we will do it and confirm by telephone or in writing that it is done.
Who else sees it
Nobody outside the small group of individuals who run this site. We do not sell information, we do not share it with estates, hire operators, dealers or accommodation, and there is no advertising network attached to this site to share it with.
The site is hosted on ordinary commercial infrastructure, which means a hosting provider technically holds the server. They act on our instruction and have no permission to use anything stored there.
What the server records by itself
Like any web server, ours writes a technical log of requests: the address the request came from, the page asked for and the time. Those logs exist for security and for fixing faults, they are not linked to form submissions, and they are rotated and discarded on a short cycle.
There is no analytics product on this site, no tracking pixel, no advertising tag and no social media script. Nothing follows you to another site after you leave this one.
Your rights, and how to use them
Under South African privacy law you may ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, ask for it to be deleted, and object to our using it. Telephone us on the number given on the contact page and say which of those you want.
We answer such requests ourselves and without charge. If you are not satisfied with how we have handled it, you may take the matter to the national Information Regulator, which handles complaints of this kind independently of us.
Children and third-party content
This site is written for adults who drive, we do not knowingly collect information about children, and the form should not be completed on behalf of a minor.
Where a route guide mentions a farm stall, a petrol station or an estate, that is a description and not a partnership. Those businesses have their own privacy arrangements and nothing you send us reaches them.
